International Recognition of Kazakhstan's Measurement Standards
State standards, or reference standards, are the technical foundation of a measurement unity assurance system and represent a strategically vital area for a country's economic development.
The demands for quality and safety in our daily lives are constantly increasing. The quality infrastructure that supports economic sectors and ensures compliance with established requirements includes a system of standards, a network of calibration and testing laboratories, accreditation activities, and conformity assessment. The role of metrology within this efficient quality infrastructure is paramount.
In the era of globalization and the integration of nations, the recognition of testing and measurement results becomes a necessity and an essential condition for a country's development. Without recognizing the results of measurements conducted in various countries, the expansion of global trade becomes impossible.
In accordance with the Agreement on the Mutual Recognition of National Measurement Standards and Calibration and Measurement Certificates Issued by National Metrology Institutes (CIPM MRA Agreement), the equivalence of standards is determined based on the results of their international comparisons. Positive outcomes of these comparisons are published in the database of the International Bureau of Weights and Measures (BIPM) as Calibration and Measurement Capabilities (CMCs). These CMCs pertain to the standards of participating countries and serve to instill trust in the measurement results, calibration certificates, and test reports on an international level.
The involvement of the Republic of Kazakhstan in international comparisons and international accreditation further reinforces confidence in the quality of measurements in Kazakhstan. As a result of these efforts, 93 CMCs for measurement and calibration capabilities of Kazakhstan's standards have been published in the key comparison database of the BIPM.
